Since selling Interverz in 2010, I’ve developed specific principles for leading in remote, hybrid, and in-person environments. Across each, my focus is on creating the conditions for productive work and a strong team and organizational culture.

Establish clear outcomes, ownership, and communication expectations. Make decisions accessible, protect focused work, and create regular opportunities for coaching, collaboration, and relationship building.

Use shared time for solving complex problems, developing people, and building relationships. Keep information and decisions accessible so everyone can contribute, wherever they’re working.

Use direct interaction to learn, resolve questions, and build trust. Pair that access with clear priorities, thoughtful collaboration, and respect for uninterrupted work.

The environment shapes how a team works. My responsibility is to make expectations clear, support people’s development, and build a culture of trust and accountability. I look for evidence in the quality of the work, the team’s ability to deliver, and the strength of the relationships that support it.
